Sun, sea and…matkots !


Tel Aviv is a city of sea and beaches. There are many beautiful beaches and choosing your favorite is super easy. Among the great variety of beaches in the big city, you can find Hilton Beach, Jerusalem (Geula) Beach, Gordon Beach, Bograshov Beach, Mezizim Beach, Ha’Maravi Beach (The Maravi), Frishman Beach, Banana Beach, Ajami Beach and Dolphinarium Beach.

Tel Aviv beaches are spreading from Jaffa in the south to Tel Aviv Port in the north.
The coastline of Tel Aviv-Jaffa beaches stretches for about 14 kilometers along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.


A Peace Of Paradise

In every declared beach you can find free wardrobes, chairs and sun beds for rent, pergolas, handicap chairs for the disabled that allow them to float on the water and a ball you can loan from the control station.

In addition, the coastal libraries project are active in the following beaches: Jerusalem, Gordon, Metzitzim and the Northern Cliff.

You can also enjoy play areas (available on all beaches) in which you can borrow backgammon boards, checkers, buckets and paws for sand playing for free.

For the convenience, the Tel Aviv municipality publishes a price list for basic products (valid in buying from the counter) and beach services, which are enforced.


A National Special Sport

One thing is for sure, in all beaches you will find people playing Matkot.
Matkot is an Israeli game which suitable for two players or more. The object of the game is to pass a rubber ball with only round rackets for as long as possible without the ball falling to the ground. 

It is common to play the game on the beach or in other extensive resorts, which usually includes bathing. The game has been established in Israel and over time It has become Israel’s national sports, but it is also played in Brazil, Italy and Greece.
